What once was a way to earn some extra cash in his downtime turned into Will Daniels’ full time job. Not only that, but it has also created 30 other full-time jobs for local folks in just under ten years of operation. This is the story of XP Lawn Care.
Will took the path that a lot of people take – he graduated high school and went to college. But even with three Bachelor degrees under his belt, he struggled to find a job teaching when he graduated. When he was in high school, he would cut lawns for some extra money, so he decided to pick up where he left off.
XP Lawn Care started with hand-me-down equipment, hand-painted signs, and simple ads in the weekly Old Mountain Trader. In his first year, he says he had about ten clients. In ten years, he’s grown the business to nearly 1,000 customers and more services than just lawn care, including steam cleaning, commercial janitorial maintenance, pest control, and more.
Will Daniels and XP Lawn Care is a prime example of why the phrase “you can’t start a business in Southern West Virginia” is totally wrong. Give this episode a listen and let us know what you think!
